Bronson Native Continuing Journey To Be ISP Trooper

(BLOOMINGTON) – A Southern Michigan native is continuing his journey to be an Indiana State Police Trooper.

ISP Officials says Probationary Trooper Collin R. Cook reported to the Bloomington District Monday to start his Field Training Phase.

Cook who is from Bronson, is a graduate of Bronson Junior and Senior High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball, and soccer. Cook then attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and University of Memphis, where he studied Communications and Psychology before joining the Indiana State Police.

Cook’s interest in a law enforcement career included serving as a Cadet with the Michigan State Police from 2022-2023. He applied for the 84th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy, was accepted, and reported to Plainfield to initiate his training. He suffered an injury during training that required surgery. During his recovery process, Cook served as a Communications Officer with the Toll Road District from 2023-2024.

Cook reapplied and was accepted to the 87th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. He graduated in July 2025.
