(STURGIS) – A former Sturgis City Commissioner has been re-appointed to a seat on the Commission.
During a Wednesday night work session, the Commission interviewed Justin Wickey for a vacant seat to represent the Second Precinct. Wickey previously served as a Second Precinct Commissioner from 2018 until 2021 when he stepped down due to being asked to help plant a church in Coldwater.
Commissioners asked Wickey a series of questions, including what he thought were some of the issues facing Sturgis. LINKC.
Wickey was also asked what he thought the role of City government was. LINKD.
Wickey was the only individual to apply for the vacancy.
Commissioners Aaron Miller and Jeff Mullins shared they served with Wickey during his previous time on the Commission. Mullins says the Wickey is a man of integrity and has a willingness to do what’s best for the City of Sturgis.
During their regular meeting, the Commission voted unanimously to appoint Wickey to the position. He will be sworn in at the May 28 meeting.
Wickey will finish the term of Rodger Moyer, who stepped down from the Commission at the end of April, due to his move out of the Second Precinct.
