(CENTREVILLE) – Christine Yunker will start her duties as a St. Joseph County Commissioner earlier than planned.
During Tuesday’s Executive Session, the County Commission appointed Yunker to complete the remaining two months of Dennis Allen’s term as Fifth District Commissioner. Allen announced his resignation from the Commission, effective October 31.
Allen’s term ends December 31.
St. Joseph County’s Fifth District is made up of Nottawa and Sherman Townships along with a part of the City of Sturgis and A part of Sturgis Township.
Yunker won the August Primary Election and was supposed to become the new Fifth District Commissioner January 1, 2025. Yunker is the St. Joseph County Grange Fair Manager.
