(STURGIS) – The family of a Sturgis man says he was assaulted due to an incident of road rage.

According to WNDU TV Angela Morales says her 65 year old father was driving his motorcycle Wednesday night around 7:30 PM and was being followed by a man in a car. The driver of the car, a 27 year old Sturgis man, was allegedly trying to run Morales' father off the road.

When they got to the intersection of South Nottawa Road and Congress Streets, the suspect got out of his vehicle and started swearing at Morales' father. The man then knocked Morales' father off his motorcycle, assaulted him and drove away.

A witness took down the license plate number and Sturgis Police found and arrested the suspect a short time later on a charge of assault and battery.

Morales' father was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital and then transferred to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. According to Morales, her father has fractured bones in face.

Morales has started a Go Fund Me page to help out with her father's medical expenses.
