(UNDATED) – A Niles man died from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle Saturday evening.
Michigan State Police say at 6:40 PM police and first responders were called to a car versus pedestrian incident at a Marathon Gas Station on U.S. 12 and Reum Road near the Cass-Berrien County Line. Troopers were first on scene and gave first aid to the victim until a SMCAS ambulance arrived.
Troopers say 70 year old Earl Edward Doss of Niles died at the scene from his injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a 35 year old Niles resident, remained at the scene and assisted with the investigation, which remains open. It appears that Doss was crossing the street when he was struck by the vehicle.
Also assisting at the scene were the Cass County Sheriff's Department, the Pokagon Band Tribal Police, the Niles Township Fire Department, the Cass County Medical Examiners Office and the Michigan Department Of Transportation.
