(LANSING) – A Harrison, Michigan man has been found guilty of crimes committed against a relative.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says 69 year old Geral Whitney was found guilty in St. Joseph County Circuit Court of one count of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and two counts of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.
Whitney was charged in 2023 for sexually assaulting a relative 20 years ago.
The investigation and charging decisions in this case were conducted by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, respectively. The Attorney General’s Office managed the prosecution at the Prosecutor’s request that came in 2024.
Nessel says sexual assaults are very serious crimes, and she is grateful to the jury for their deliberations and to the victims who displayed great courage to come forward.
Whitney will be sentenced on July 11, 2025 in St. Joseph County Circuit Court.
