(UNDATED) – A Goshen man is dead from injuries he sustained in a two vehicle crash.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, 28 year old Sergio Salazar of Goshen was driving north on U.S. 33, south of County Road 33 just after 7:30 Tuesday night. Deputies say traffic was congested.
Investigators say Salazar passed a vehicle on the right, going onto the shoulder of the road. As Salazar returned to the road, he lost control of his vehicle and slide sideways into oncoming traffic, and was struck by a southbound vehicle on U.S. 33, driven by 50 year old Gabina De Esparaza of Ligonier.
The front of Esparaza's vehicle struck Salazar's automobile in the middle on the passenger's side, compressing the vehicle and Salazar sustained fatal injuries.
Esparaza complained of chest pains. The incident is still under investigation.
