Cassopolis Man Found Guilty On Drug Charges
Thursday, October 17, 2019

(CASSOPOLIS) – A Cass County man has been brought to justice on drug related charges.

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz says Richard Williams of Cassopolis was convicted Wednesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, conspiring to deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house.

Williams and his girlfriend Ashley Friske were arrested after a search of Williams' Calvin Township house in May revealed substantial evidence that the couple were selling meth out of their house in order to support their own drug habit. As they entered the home, the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team found Williams on the main floor with a baggie of meth in his pocket. Friske was located in the basement, where she said she consumed a significant amount of meth in order to try and hide the evidence from law enforcement officers.

Police also found items throughout the house related to the use and sale of meth, including baggies, scales, pipes, needles and drug cutting agents.

Friske plead guilty in September to possession with intent to deliver meth; conspiring with Williams to possess meth with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug house.

Williams will be sentenced December 13. He faces up to 30 years in prison as a habitual offender.
