SPS Hires New Teachers For 2019-2020 School Year

(STURGIS) – Some new and familiar faces have been hired to fill teaching positions for Sturgis Public Schools in the 2019-2020 school year.

Monday night the Sturgis Board of Education approved the hiring of Wayne Fiebelkorn as the Sturgis Middle School wood shop teacher; Emma Hunt as a second grade teacher at Congress School; Ryan VanDosen to be the Sturgis Middle School Success Teacher; Heather Basse to be the counselor at Eastwood School; Kelly Mallory and Rachel Schwartz as second grade teachers at Wall School and Nicole Ness as a Sturgis Middle School math teacher.

In addition, Jenifer Lampe was hired to teach physical education at Wall School; Chelsea Wilber will be the Middle School art teacher; Aubrey Kounelis will teach art at Eastwood School; Dorian Greening will be a science teacher at Sturgis High School; Amy McAllister will teach Spanish at Sturgis High School and Sturgis Middle School; Amy Roose will teach Special Education and Lisa Burkey will be a math teacher at Sturgis High School.

Assistant Superintendent Nicole Airgood presented the candidates to the Board of Education, who approved the new hires by a unanimous vote. Airgood shared that VanDosen and Schwartz are both Sturgis graduates. In addition, Mallory and Roose both previously taught for Sturgis Public Schools.
