Cooling Stations Set Up Around Area

(UNDATED) – An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for the listening area today until 8 PM.

Some area communities are taking steps to help their residents beat the heat.

The City of Three Rivers has set up sprinkler stations. They are located at Scidmore Park on the petting zoo side; Lafayette Park; Foster Park and at the corner of Washington Street and 10th Avenue.

These will be available throughout the weekend.

In Branch County, multiple locations will be open as cooling centers. Several branches of the Branch District Library will serve as cooling stations, including the Coldwater Branch from 9 AM until 3 PM; along with the Quincy, Algansee, Union City and Sherwood Branches from 9 AM until 12 PM.

The Quincy Village Office will be open as a cooling station from 12 until 9 PM today.

In northern Indiana, Parkview LaGrange Hospital will open its main lobby and cafeteria today from 7 AM until 7 PM as a cooling station for members of the community who may be at risk of heat-related illness, especially young children and the elderly.

The LaGrange Public Library will be open from 9 AM until 5 PM today as a cooling station. Also, Kendallville City Hall will serve as a cooling station.
