(UNDATED) – An Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect for the listening area for the next two days.
The National Weather Service says the Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from 8 AM today until 8 PM Saturday. Temperatures will reach into the mid 90's today and tomorrow, with heat index values between between 102 and 110 degrees both days.
Heat illnesses are possible for individuals spending prolonged periods outside or in non air-conditioned locations. Spending too much time in this type of heat is specifically dangerous for young children, the elderly and those with health problems.
In addition, temperatures inside vehicles can reach lethal levels in just a few minutes.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room and to stay out of the sun. Also check on elderly neighbors and relatives and please bring your animals inside so they are not affected by the heat.
